The Sun began to rise over the distant flat lands of her pack grounds. The light of the flaring orb began to creep into the burrow's entrance, illuminating the beginning of it, but fading in the depths. It was deep enough for a grown female to stand, the males however needed to crouch a little. To help others get out, when she had first come here, she had a rock fall through the hole. It not only widened the entrance, but gave them a boost. Pups however would still have trouble, if there were to ever be any of course.
However Kachina was not in the Den. She had woken up just before the Sun rose to see the setting Moon. She sat at the edge until the Moon was no longer in view, and then she stood. The fur upon her paws became damp from the dew, the chilled ground feeling nice under her paws. The sun today would not do much to warm the ground below. It was the time when the leaves fell from the trees, and the air began to chill. It was almost the time of White, where the rain froze, and turned into soft crystals that covered the ground.
Leaving the Den, the dark wolf traveled to the East. The Alpha didn't know what was so compelling in this direction, she just felt the need to head that way. So she went, walking, the dew wetting her fur more and more with each step. She didn't seem to mind though, in fact she almost seemed to enjoy it. Not that one could easily tell that unless they knew her well, which wasn't many if any.
Kachina soon led herself to the Celestial Lake. A wide body of water that is said to have been where the Lady had taken her first step on Earth when she filled the lands with water so the creatures could survive. She didn't know whether this legend was true or not, after all, legends were legends for a reason. No one but the Lady knew if it was true or not, and it wasn't as if one could just wander up and ask her, now is it?
Laying down by the edge, she dipped her paws in the chilled water. It made a shiver quickly run down her spine, but she did not remove them. She didn't know why. She even felt like going further in. Maybe it was because she had the gift to control water. Repressing the urge to go further in, she watched the ripples on the surface. It seemed almost, anxious. It wasn't calm like it typically is in the time of warmth. She wondered why...

The sun crested the horizon, its light spreading across the hunting grounds and the forests of the Harvest Moon lands. Resting on an outcrop of rock, not far from the entrance of the den, Peorth stirred when the first light hit her eyes. She stretched and yawned, before she stood. With a smile she looked over the lands that were her home, before she jumped from her outcrop, landing gracefully. She paused and looked at the ground. Paw prints? And fresh as well, she thought as she leaned down to sniff them. It seems our Alpha has gone for a bit of a stroll, she thought with a smile. Looking up, she followed the trail of paw prints, and the scent, of the Alpha Female of the Harvest Moon Pack.
Following the trail of Kachina, Peorth kept her nose close to the ground, wondering what their leader was doing going for a stroll so early in the morning. Especially around this time of the year. The White was coming, and it wouldn't do for Kachina to be out on her own without informing Peorth, the Beta, where she was going. Now, she wasn't one to panic or worry, but Peorth was couscous. And with the White on the way, and the War being raged, couscous was a prudent thing to be.
Peorth soon recognised where the trail lead, where she would find Kachina. So, with a smile, she picked up the pace and ran to the Celestial Lake.
Arriving at the Lake moments later, Peorth paused just inside the brush to catch her breath. It didn't pay to meet your leader out of breath. When her breathing was under control, Peorth carefully stepped out from the brush and slowly made her way to the edge of the Lake. Sure enough, there was Kachina, laying on the edge of the Lake, her paws in the water. Peorth would recognise that fur anywhere. She paused her respectful distance behind Kachina, sat on her hunches and cleared her throat. 'You're going to catch a cold if you keep your paws in that cold water, you know?'

Kachina twitched her ears as she listened to the sounds of the surrounding region. The chirps of the birds were faint, many had already moved on for a different area, one she was told that was warm during the cold time. Odd. She thought it was odd. How could that be? She could travel for miles and there would be nothing but white. It was most odd. The birds however could easily be spinning lies. She found them to be an untrustworthy sort. Then again, who does she trust anyway? There isn't many. The Lady, of course. Peorth, well.. She was getting used to her being around, and found her to be good company, even with how moody she is known to get. As for trusting her.. She was getting there, slowly and cautiously. Beta or not, trust was earned, not given.
Blinking slowly, she closed her amber eyes tightly as she opened her jaws, her pink tongue curling up as she inhaled deeply, and then exhaled warm air that turned into mist when greeted with the cold. She shook her head as she clamped her jaws closed, finishing the yawn. Opening her eyes, she looked deep into the water. There were many silhouettes of the water dwellers, some looking small, some looking large. Pink again leaked from her lips as she licked her muzzle, her stomach squeezing lightly in hunger.
Then, she heard something. Kachina froze, and tilted her ears back. It was getting closer. Her guard shot up as she was expecting an enemy attack, but with an inhale with the crisp air, the scent she caught was familiar. She exhaled slowly as she relaxed. It wasn't long before a voice came to her. The words made her chuckle. Peorth. She had followed her it seemed. Lifting her paws from the water, she sat up before speaking. "Come now Peorth, little things such as colds don't bother me so. I suppose though if you are concerned.." She looked down at her damp paws, and with a mere blink the water that dampened her dark fur found its way back into the Lake. "Lovely morning isn't it? Would you like something to eat? Large fish swimming about under the surface."

Sensing the tension from Kachina, noticed the way her guard went up, Peorth sighed. She knew she shouldn't sneak up on Kachina, but she actually didn't mean to. At least not this time, she thought with a chuckle. Her smile spread as she felt the Alpha relax. 'Well, it is nearly the time of the White, so I suppose I am concerned with your health, Kachina,' she said, watching as the other wolf used her element to move the water from her paws back to the Lake. 'It is a lovely morning,' Peorth said with a smile, slowly making her way to the Lakes edge. 'Well, I haven't eaten yet this morning and fish does sound nice.' She smiled at Kachina, before looking at the shadows of the fish beneath the surface. 'My, there are some large fish, aren't there?' She licked the drool that was forming from her lips.

The amber orbs upon the dark wolf's face looked up to the sky and rolled back down to the water beneath as Peorth spoke of her health. Understanding where the concern would lie within the Beta, she still was no pup. Perhaps however it was best not to worry the others. If she didn't, she wouldn't need to be lectured, after all.
Kachina looked over to her as she finally decided to slowly stand beside her. She almost acted as if she planned to eat her. How silly. If she had wanted to do that she would have done so earlier. Just kidding, of course, she wasn't a cannibal. Or was she? She never had tasted Wolf before.. And she never would. Kachina knew better than that. Besides, eating her comrades didn't sound so appealing, since she knew what they had been in and what they have eaten.
As the lighter wolf responded to her question, she noticed the forming saliva at the edge of her muzzle. Peering right back into the depths of the water, she waited. When her eyes landed on two chunky fish, she narrowed her eyes quickly as bubbles formed around the water dwellers, and lifted them out of the liquid. The orbs of fluid came closer until they hovered over the land, just behind the pair so they couldn't flop back. Then the bubbles burst, the water smacking the ground as the fish fell, and hit the chilled grass. Normally, it was typical for her to eat first. Today however she was, feeling generous. Without needing to turn, she looked at Peorth. She never did eat much anyway, so it was common for the Pack to eat more than she.
"Go ahead and eat your fill. I can catch more if it calls for it."

Feeling Kachina's eyes on her, Peorth knew, somewhat, what the Alpha was thinking. She was probably wondering why Peorth was being cautious, wondering if she was worried that she would be attacked. She wasn't, but Peorth was no fool, she knew that Kachina would be able to best her in a fight. But that would never happen. They were both Harvest Moon. No, the reason Peorth was being cautious was she was still half asleep. She didn't want to be too fast and find herself in the middle of the Lake. So she was going slow.
Watching as the dark wolf used her element to gather fish from the water. Watching Kachina use her element like this sometimes made Peorth jealous. Her own was wind, and she couldn't control it as well as Kachina could the water. But it was almost always linked to food in some way anyway, so it was short lived.
When the fish splatted onto the ground, Peorth smiled at the Alpha. 'Thank you,' she said, though she didn't move towards the fish. 'Are you going to eat?' she asked, tilting her head inquisitively.
